Julien DI Maiolo
Tabla player and percussionist
Julien Di maiolo was born in marseille in 1975. He became interested in the world of percussion at the age of 16 and adopted the tabla as his primary instrument at the age of 19 during his first voyage to India.

Julien's tabla training began in the culturally vibrant city of Calcutta with a senior disciple of the great Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Nabankur Bhattacharya.

After 3 years of study Julien was awarded a scholarship by the French and Indian gouvernments (I.C.C.R, 2000-2002).

This enabled Julien to study intensively in Calcutta and with honor was accepted to learn under the able guidance of the maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. Since 2000, Julien has performed in different venues around the world (India, Japan, Taiwan, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, France, ect....) and has performed alongside with various artists such as Nabankur Bhattacharya, Sudeshna Bhattacharya, Sugato Nag (tour in Japan, 2006), Chote Rahimat Khan, Debashish Sanyal, Marc liebeskin, Paco Rodriguez, Tristan Shulze, Sten Ronbeck to site just a few.

He is currently also an active member of the renowned fusion band "Kundalini Airport", who are based in India.
